About

We would rather print a number than an adjective.

Value Skin Co. is a small fragrance-free skincare line built around one idea: that the useful thing to know about a product is not how powerful it is, but how much of your week it costs. So every formula we make carries a load rating from 0 to 5, printed on the carton and shown on every product card, and a routine has a weekly budget of 12.

That is an unusual thing for a brand to do, because it is a system whose main effect is to talk people out of buying a fourth active. We think that is fine. A customer whose barrier is comfortable buys moisturiser and sunscreen from us for years. A customer who wrecked their face in six weeks buys nothing from anyone for a while.

The name is meant literally, and not as a claim about price. We are not the cheapest skincare you can buy and we would not know how to prove it if we were. What we mean by value is the ratio most brands leave you to work out on your own: what a formula actually contains, at what strength, for what it costs, and how much of your week it uses up. All four of those are printed on every product page, which is the only way the word means anything.

How the catalog is built

One active per formula, at a stated strength, in a base chosen to make that active tolerable rather than to pad the ingredient list. The whole INCI list is on every product page in descending order, and the strengths that matter are given as percentages rather than as “a high concentration of”.

Nothing carries fragrance — no parfum, no essential oils, no masking fragrance. Fragrance is the most common avoidable cause of contact reactions in skincare and it does nothing for the skin, so there was no decision to make.

Everything is formulated and filled in the United States, in packaging chosen for the formula rather than for the shelf: amber glass for the light-sensitive serums, airless pumps for the retinoids, aluminium tubes for the creams that oxidise.

Every product page carries a cautions block — who the formula is not for, what not to layer it with, and the pregnancy note where one applies. It is written before the marketing copy, not after.

What we will not tell you

These are cosmetic products. They are applied to the skin and they affect how it looks and feels. They are not medicines, and nothing we sell is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. You will not find that claim anywhere on this site, in any product description, or in any email we send, because it would not be true.

We do not claim a product will clear acne, remove scarring, reverse ageing, cure rosacea or eczema, or replace anything a clinician has prescribed you. Where a product supports the look of something, we say the look of it, and we mean it literally.

We publish no reviews, no star ratings and no customer counts, because this store is new and does not have them yet. When there are real ones, from real buyers, we will publish those and say where they came from.

And the load scale is our own. It is a rough shared unit we invented so a week can be added up. It is not a clinical measure, it is not validated by anyone but us, and it describes a formula rather than a person.

Reaching a person

Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm MT, on the telephone and by email, and every message answered within one business day. If something arrived wrong, reacted badly, or you simply changed your mind, the answer is nearly always yes and it is nearly always the same day.

If you are not sure whether a product suits you, ask before you buy. We would rather talk someone out of an order than take one that comes back.
